I’ve discovered quite the gem tucked away in the Indian Hills area. Davo’s Burgers & Fries is definitely not your average burger joint. The food is guaranteed to please, and you can always count on some fun entertainment.
Davo’s is known for hand-cut fries, fresh, juicy burgers, ooey-gooey desserts, cold drinks, and someone is usually singing or cheering on their favorite sports team.
The exterior view is nothing to capture your attention, but it is conveniently located on Canton Pike, and the pick-up window on the side seems to be very popular.
A small porch welcomes guests and inside is set up with tables, booths and a small bar. Big-screen TVs line the wall with quite a few channels to view.
We were greeted and seated within moments, followed with a server coming by our table to get our drink and appetizer order. Our party unanimously voted nachos but we struggled to decide on beef or chicken. The server suggested we do half and half. Score! A lot of silence and finger-licking followed with their arrival at the table.
I thought I would try something different, and the Fajita Sandwich looked fantastic. I asked to have it in a wrap, and the server had no problem with my modification. A few moments later, a manager came to clarify everything I wanted on my wrap, and it was delivered to the table just as I’d asked.
If you haven’t tried Davo’s French Fries you are truly missing out. They offer several variations — each hand cut and seasoned to perfection. My personal favorite is the Sweet Potato Fries. These are sliced thin and served with a sugary-cinnamon dipping sauce that would make my dentist cringe …but this sauce is perfection! Their original fries are equally delicious, thin and perfectly crisp.
I tasted two other burgers that evening, The California Burger (served with bacon, avocado, and green peppers) and a double cheeseburger. Both were wonderful, and I was lucky to get a bite. All of their burgers can be modified and created specifically to your tastes.
As we ate, we realized it was Trivia Night. Several nights each week, Davo’s has entertainment such as karaoke and trivia; both are very popular and may be a lot of fun for the entire family. We participated in trivia while we ate and had a really good time.
It was the perfect night to stick around a little longer and linger over dessert. We ordered Fried Oreos and milkshakes, which reminded us of sitting at the county fair. We couldn’t have asked for a better ending to a fantastic meal.
As the weather gets colder, I know I will use the Davo’s pick-up window to avoid getting out. The delicious food, attentive service and fun, family atmosphere will definitely have me returning to Davo’s again and again.
Try it at home
Cinnamon dip: Combine a stick of melted butter with equal parts cinnamon, white sugar, and brown sugar. Perfect for dipping sweet potato fries or even a special treat for a baked sweet potato.
